morro bay {roy g biv}...

Garrett and I went to Morro Bay last week to take photos for my ROY G BIV assignment for my digital photo class (you can see the finished photos on my photo blog). It was a little chilly, but very fun. :)

my valentine...

Well, it finally happened: I had a date on Valentine's Day -- and it was absolutely lovely!
The day started off with a scavenger hunt to find my dozen roses...it didn't take me too long...well, maybe a little while (20min). :)

Each rose had a very creative clue to help find the next rose...I think Alfonzo was my favorite.

After the hunt, we had a delicious brunch of eggs and heart-shaped biscuits.
Then after a relaxing afternoon of show-watching and grocery shopping, my handsome date taught me how to make sushi!

I think we did a fabulous job. :)

Thank you for being the best valentine a girl could ever ask for. Love you Handsome -- Happy Valentine's Day!

for the love of cooking...

As some of you may know, I love to cook. Why? Yes, there are tasty results, and the chopping, slicing, and dicing with a little meat pounding is a great stress reliever. But the big reason I love to cook? It brings people together. It makes people smile, and not just because they're eating something delicious, but the journey to get that delicious food is what makes the real memories.
If you eat something delicious, you immediately make a permanent memory associated with that food and the surrounding situation. Example: I adore good soup, but I never really appreciated good soup until I started making it with my boyfriend. When I eat certain kinds of soup, it reminds me of the first time I had it, which was when I had made it with him. These memories instantly make the food ten times better, not because of taste, but because of the wonderful, positive, happy memory that's connected with it. These memories -- along with the ingredients in the food -- release the happy hormones (endorphins, seratonin, etc.), thus making the food taste incredible and the eater much happier than when they were hungry (Science! Ha!).

I love to cook. I especially love to cook with people I love, because it makes memories that I will cherish forever...like this:
