lovely weather and pretty flowers...

The weather was absolutely lovely this weekend -- perfect beach weather! My friend and I went to Avila on Friday (they have a great farmer's market during early spring and through the summer), and it was almost therapeutic my body was craving the beach so badly -- there's really nothing better for someone (me, at least) than a walk on the beach. Although it was pretty crowded -- at least more so than usual this time of year -- it was still lovely.
Because of the weather, a lot of flowers have been in full bloom, like the little orchid plant outside of my bedroom window. My Mom was shocked when she saw the flowers...mostly because we kind of accidentally kill all of our flowering plants, ha! It was a nice surprise to wake up and see the pretty little orchid bloom. :)
Well, I should probably stop staring out my window and do some studying. I have 2 tests to study for and 2 essays to write this week...story of my life this semester...and people wonder why I crave the nice, calm, wonderful beach!
Hope you make time to enjoy the rest of this beautiful weather! :)

somebody that i used to know {sotw}...

I was shocked -- and a little disappointed -- to hear that MB was going to be on Glee. If you know me, then you know how much I admired Matt...until he turned out to be gay (what a waste of God given hunkiness). So to see that he was going to be on Glee was kind of...odd? Weird? Wrong? I felt as though he was almost flaunting the fact that he was homo and proud -- even though he was playing a straight character (which, again, made it kinda weird).
That being said, he did a fabulous job as usual. Gah, so conflicting! Morally wrong, yet an amazing performer. *sigh* I just need to move on. :P
I was planning on putting this song up for my SOTW, and when I heard Matt and Darren Criss (who is straight, by the way) sing a duet, I knew that wanted to use their version instead.

movie review {the artist}...

Because it's spring break (thank the Lord), I was able to take a day trip down to Santa Barbara and visit a dear friend of mine. It was such a nice trip! Catching up with an old friend is the best. :)
While I was there, we saw The Artist. I can see why it won so many awards -- it was SO good! The acting was so classic and fun, it was just an overall good movie that anyone could see -- a rare thing nowadays. Plus it was a silent film, which is just awesome. I highly recommend seeing it. A wonderful movie with wonderful people -- gah, so good!

symphony no. 9 {sotw}...

I apologize for my MIA status for the past week and 1/2. I had a CRAZY week last week getting ready for spring break. But now...it's SPRING BREAK!! Finally. I think we're the last school to have spring break in the entire state of CA. Second week of April, then back to school for four weeks, then finals. So weird. Oh well, enjoy it while it's here. :)I still have two more music app. music quizzes before finals, and the next one is on the Romantic Period -- my fave, so far. So this week's SOTW will be from my RP playlist, since that's pretty much all I'm listening to in my free time so that I can memorize all 12 songs by next week.
So, my SOTW: Symphony No. 9 "New World" Symphony, by Antonin Dvorak

symphony no.40 {sotw}...

For my classical music appreciation class, we have to memorize a number of songs per musical period, and then we're quizzed on them. I recently had my quiz on the classical period, and this was one of my faves -- written by, of course, Mozart. {Did you know that when he died at the age of 35, the probable cause of death was liver failure? Just a little fun fact for ya.}
So, my SOTW: Symphony No. 40 in G-minor, by Mozart.
