a weekend in san fran...

I was able to go up to San Francisco this past weekend with my boyfriend and his family, and I had a wonderful time! I hadn't been up to SF to just hang out and look at the sites for a while, so it was great to experience the city again. We went downtown to the mall and union square, saw Les Misérables on Saturday, and finished up the weekend with a trip to the California Academy of Science
I'd have to say that my favorite part was the science academy, but hey, I'm a geek that way. Of course, I couldn't pass up the opportunity for some photos...
There was some pretty impressive architecture throughout the building...

This reminds me of the Teletubbies' houses.
There were also a good amount of interactive areas for kids (we spent a majority of our time there...don't judge)...

But I think my favorite was the rainforest exhibit. Completely enclosed with free-flying birds and butterflies, and many other animal exhibits too (of course, that's probably why I liked it so much)...

I would definitely check it out the next time you're up in the city. :)

I had such a great time this weekend, I didn't want it to end! But jury duty calls (yuck), so I'll have to try to make the best of my time this week...maybe finish organizing my room?...Maybe.
I hope you all have a wonderful New Years!! Happy 2013 (man, that's weird). :)

a little date story...

Upon arrival at the SLO ice skating rink...
Dude behind the counter: "7:30PM slot is full, selling 9:00PM tickets now!"
*Garrett and I look at each other, not pleased*
Me: "...do you really want to wait that long?"
Garrett: "...not if you don't want to. We'll go at some point. Doesn't have to be now."
Me: "Definitely...we should at least get a churro."
Garrett: "Unless they're expensive, then we'll go to Costco."
Me: "Yeah!"
*after watching the skaters for about 2 min*
Garrett: "Oh! We should go to SLO Donut Co!"
Me: "Oooh, even better!"
We then departed to get doughnuts and play Toy Story 3 memory game where Garrett won by 4 pairs -- a master of memory. What was going to be a great date turned into an even better one. :)

a very busy end of the semester...

These past few weeks have been very busy for me. But the best part: I'm done with school!! I still can't believe it -- it definitely hasn't sunk in yet. But it will. It will. :)
After finals, my boyfriend came up to visit and celebrate the end of the semester with me -- exactly what I needed! We had a great time relaxing, making pizza, going black light mini golfing (yes, it was awesome), grabbing some delicious sushi at farmer's, and watching Elf...

After that, we headed over to the aquarium...

Most definitely what I needed to celebrate the end of a very long semester. :)
Just after I came home, my family and I went up to San Fran to see the Nutcracker at the Opera House...

A great production -- the best I've seen so far!
It is now officially Christmas morning! Time to help out Santa and put some stuff in the stockings, then head off to bed. I hope you all have a very merry Christmas! :)

i will wait {sotw}...

This song is just enough folk to have classic taste, but just modern enough to be fun and exciting -- makes me want to dance. :)

decorating the apt...

My roommate and I decorated our apartment yesterday, and I have to say that I think we did a pretty cute job! It's not quite done yet (I think we're going to head over to the $ store for some stockings to hang on the wall), but so far it's pretty cozy -- and the apt smells like Christmas tree (my fave)!
Hot cocoa, warm cinnamon candles, Christmas music...I'm ready for school to be done and for me to be with my loved ones for the holiday season. Only about 1 more week. So close. :)

don't you worry child {sotw}...

This song has been playing so much on one of the popular radio stations up in Marina, so naturally it would get stuck in my head. :)
